Downloading and Installing a Language Package

To download a language pack scroll down to the 'Download Now' button at the very end of this page.

jDownloads comes with the English and German languages already installed.

If you are not sure how to install a language package then the article Installing a language pack (opens in a new tab/window - applicable to both jD 3.2 & 3.9) may be useful.

• the most important, and largest, files are the three for the component:
  
  • admin-com_jdownloads, which is used in the 'backend' by admin
  • admin-com_jdownloads_sys, also used in the 'backend' by admin
  • site-com_jdownloads, which is important for users
• A translation should be sufficient for most purposes when these three files have been translated but for users the site one is vital.
• The translation files for the Modules and Plugins are much shorter.

If you are interested in helping with the jDownloads translation work, then

the following is what you need in order to help complete a language file or to start a new translation:

• a good knowledge of both English and your mother tongue;
• some experience in translating Joomla! language files would be helpful;
• agree that you will not use Google Translator or any other method of automated translations;
• sign up with Transifex and fill your details in a Transifex profile so users will know who is responsible for a translation;
• apply to form or join a team for your language;
• keep an eye on the translations as from time to time the base translation is updated.

Just for initial reference the jDownloads projects are, like many other components, sub projects of the Joomla! Translation project.  Accessing the Transifex FAQ, http://docs.transifex.com/faq/ , is helpful to give you an idea of what to do.
